Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an integrative approach that combines the use of ketamine with psychotherapy to support individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other concerns that have been difficult to address through traditional therapy alone. At Iterations Counseling, KAP is offered as part of a thoughtful, carefully paced therapeutic process with an emphasis on safety, preparation, and meaningful integration.
At Iterations Counseling, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is offered within a collaborative and intentionally paced therapeutic framework. The process emphasizes preparation, coordination with a medical provider, and integration work designed to support lasting psychological growth rather than symptom relief alone.
Before beginning KAP, we first determine whether this approach is an appropriate fit for you. This includes reviewing your personal history, current symptoms, and treatment goals, as well as coordinating with our medical partner for a full medical evaluation.
• Medical partnership through Journey Clinical, which provides medical intake, prescribing when appropriate, and ongoing medical oversight
• Preparation sessions focused on intention-setting and readiness for the dosing experience
• Ketamine sessions conducted in-office or virtually, with therapeutic support and grounding
• Integration sessions to process insights and translate them into sustainable change
KAP is not a quick fix or a stand-alone treatment. When paired with thoughtful psychotherapy, it can serve as a powerful catalyst for growth.
• Treatment-resistant depression
• Anxiety disorders
• PTSD and trauma-related conditions
• Grief and loss
• Emotional numbness or disconnection
• Existential or spiritual distress
I approach ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with the same relational, integrative, and client-centered philosophy that guides all of my work. My role is to support you in preparing for the experience, accompany you with presence and care during dosing sessions, and help you integrate insights into your daily life.
The focus is always on building resilience, fostering balance, and supporting sustainable growth beyond the session itself.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy at Iterations Counseling does not include medical intake, medication prescribing, or medical follow-up appointments. These services are provided exclusively through Journey Clinical, our trusted medical partner.
KAP-guided psychotherapy sessions are not currently covered by insurance. Sessions are billed directly, and I am happy to discuss costs and options during your consultation.
If you’re curious about whether KAP may be a good fit, I’d be glad to answer your questions and discuss next steps.

Is ketamine safe?
Ketamine has been used safely in medical settings for decades. Within ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, medication is prescribed and medically monitored by licensed medical professionals through our partnership with Journey Clinical, ensuring appropriate screening, oversight, and follow-up.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your goals, history, and response to treatment. Some clients notice meaningful shifts after a small number of sessions, while others benefit from a longer course of care. We will regularly review progress together and adjust the approach as needed.
Where do KAP sessions take place?
Preparation sessions, dosing support, and integration therapy are offered either in my Pittsburgh office or virtually, depending on what is clinically appropriate and most supportive for you. Medical evaluation and prescribing are completed through Journey Clinical.
Will insurance cover KAP?
At this time, insurance does not cover KAP-guided psychotherapy sessions. These sessions are billed directly. I’m happy to discuss fees, options, and next steps during a consultation.
What makes KAP different from taking ketamine alone?
Research suggests ketamine treatment is often more effective when combined with psychotherapy than when used on its own. While ketamine may temporarily shift mood or perspective, it is through preparation and integration therapy that insights are explored, reinforced, and connected to lasting psychological change.
In KAP, the dosing session is only one part of a broader therapeutic process. Preparation helps clarify intentions and establish safety, the ketamine experience may open emotional and cognitive flexibility, and integration sessions support translating those experiences into sustainable growth and resilience.
